The society is committed exclusively to rural development activities. The projects of the society, both presently implemented and planned for the near future are in the field of Natural Resource Management (NRM), particularly in

  • Integrated Tank Management and rehabilitation
  • Watershed Management
  • Promotion of lift irrigation schemes and implementation of agriculture drainage project.
  • To collaborate and assist Gram Panchayats to mitigate water crisis.
  • To enable marginalized communities to utilize the natural resources in a sustainable way for their livelihood enhancement and facilitate them to be linked with the mainstream.
  • To create awareness and promote usage of Renewable energy resources in rural and urban setups.
  • To liaison and network with various stakeholders and players for advocacy of the contextual issues and holistic development of the locality and
  • To promote horticulture and agriculture with organic blend in partnership with different organizations, institutions and government departments etc.

PATH TRAVELLED SO FAR


SCOPE has under taken a study on:

  • A comprehensive study of the performance of hundred irrigation tanks in Dharwad district.
  • Status of thirty two Governments managed Lift Irrigation Schemes in Dharwad district.
  • Partially rehabilitated four irrigation tanks with funding support from Ford Foundation in Kalaghatagi block.
  • Executed more than 40 rain water harvesting structure in Hubli-Dharwad municipal corporation limit.
  • Trained 2000 members of the SHG's in financial management and book keeping in Dharwad, Gadag and Belgaum district.
  • Completed rehabilitation of one tank in Shishunal village of Haveri district with funding support from Deshpande Foundation, USA.
  • Conducted save tank campaign in few villages of Kalaghatagi block.
  • Trained 60 farmers on dry land horticulture, conducted campaign on safe disposal of waste in urban area.
  • Utilization of irrigation potential of barrages constructed in Kalaghatgi block of Dharwad district.
  • Study on Central sponsored "Dug Well Recharge Scheme" in Haveri district in association with International Water Management Institute Colombo and INREM Foundation Anand.

Presently working on two tanks of Kalaghatagi block with funding support from Deshpande Foundation USA/Hubli. Also popularizing "SRI" method of paddy cultivation in tank command area.
