Tank rehabilitation was among SCOPE’s earliest areas of work, combining physical restoration of irrigation tanks with farmer organisation and community-led water management.
Restoration with local ownership
The approach combines desilting and structural rehabilitation with the formation of Tank Development Associations and local systems for water use and maintenance.
Historical outcomes
SCOPE’s records describe rehabilitation work across irrigation tanks in Kalaghatagi and Shiggaon areas, with improved storage, groundwater recharge and expansion of irrigated command area after intervention.
